Paradise Mauritius, Your One Week Itinerary
Whether you’re on honeymoon, a special holiday, or simply wanting a bit of rest and relaxation, there are few places in the world as stunning and serene as Mauritius. Yes, you have to pay for it, but here is where the phrase ‘you get what you pay for’ is true.
The Indian Ocean islands are a blinding cacophony of marine-life, sun, relaxation, rest, and total chill-out, but Mauritius has long been a favourite. Of course, you will have countless hotels to choose from, but one of the most popular and most luxurious is the Tropical Attitude Mauritius, on the east coast of the island. Easily reached from the airport and in close connection to the capital, St Louis.
Set in a garden of coconut trees and overlooking a stunning lagoon, you will love waking up to the sound of the water and amazing natural sights every day, and you can choose to stay in one of the main hotel rooms or a cottage.
Amazing isn’t even the word.
Of course, you want to know what you can do whilst you’re in Mauritius, aside from lying on a beach and watching the world go by.
So, let’s look at seven different activities you can do during your time on the island, one for every day of the week; after all, you don’t want to stretch yourself too far, do you?!
Glass bottom boat – Come on, this is the Indian Ocean, and it would be a crime not to check out the underwater residents of this colourful and diverse part of the world. The good thing about this kind of trip is that you have two choices, you can either stay onboard and simply look at what is underneath the water-line, or you can get involved and dive to say hello in a more up close and personal way.
Spas – Whichever hotel you stay in, you won’t struggle to find world-class spa facilities, with massages, treatments and Jacuzzis just a few of the things on offer. A day truly pampering yourself, especially if you’re arriving on the island from a long-haul flight, is the best way to recuperate and get ready to experience the real serenity of this paradise island.
Mountain trekking – Okay, so you’ve done lazy, so why not get out and about? Put on your walking shoes, sun-cream, hat, and grab some water, and set off on a guided mountain trek. You’ll see all manner of stunning fauna and flora, as well as completely different wildlife to anything you will see elsewhere in the world.
Horse-riding – I think this is one of those activities that is perfect for couples, and offers a real at one with nature kind of experience. On horseback you can trek through beautiful countryside, passing wildlife and stunning views.
Deep sea fishing – Back to the water, and deep sea fishing is a very popular activity in this part of the world, and it’s no wonder when you consider the rich marine-life that is populous around Mauritius. There are plentiful tours and your hotel will be able to recommend the best for you.
Botanical gardens – This might sound a little too serene, but bear with me. A couple of hours lazily walking through the beautiful botanical gardens is the perfect chill-out experience, and these extremely well-kept gardens are the perfect backdrop.
Nightlife – Whatever your reasons for being on holiday, we all need a good night out occasionally. There are plentiful nightlife options in Mauritius and many are hotel based, with brightly coloured and delicious cocktails the way to go as the sun sets over the glittering Indian Ocean.
Paradise? I think so!
